Know when Post SMTP stops sending.
A revoked sign-in. A provider outage. Sending left switched off. Know when your site’s emails stop, without waiting for a customer to tell you.
Operanse works with Post SMTP to watch sending failures, spot unusual drops in email volume, and alert you when sending is switched off in the plugin. When sending stops entirely, it can tell you within about 30 minutes.
Email monitoring requires Monitor ($39 USD/site/month) or Insight ($99). Your trial includes 14 days of Insight. The free Watch plan does not monitor email.
Illustrative. One week of email handed to the mailer, drawn against the site’s own normal for each hour. On Friday afternoon sending stops while orders keep coming.
Your site can look fine while its emails stop.
Orders still come in. Customers request password resets. Your team assumes the emails are being sent.
Then Gmail or Microsoft authorisation expires. Credentials change. Your email provider refuses requests. Or Post SMTP is left in “Log only” or “No Action” mode, recording emails without sending them.
The first sign may be a customer asking where their order confirmation went.
Post SMTP’s log helps you investigate. Operanse watches for problems so you know when to look.
Know what failed. Notice what’s missing.
See sending failures
Operanse counts whether each email was accepted or refused by the mail plugin or provider, along with a short failure category. Authentication refusals give you a concrete starting point for checking credentials or authorisation.
Notice an unusual silence
Operanse learns how much email your site normally sends for each hour of the week. It can flag a drop against that pattern, even when there are no refusals to count.
Know when sending is switched off
If Post SMTP uses “Log only” or “No Action” mode, Operanse recognises that sending is switched off in the mail plugin and alerts you.
An alert with somewhere to start
Illustrative example.
No emails accepted in the last 30 minutes. Sending attempts are being refused.
Failure category: SMTP authentication refused.
Receive alerts by email, Slack, SMS or WhatsApp. Insight also adds an AI review to each critical alert, with a likely cause and the evidence behind it. 6 reviews per site per day are included.
Keep Post SMTP. Add a wider view.
Post SMTP already provides an email log, failure notifications—including Slack and its mobile app—and a fallback connection. Those are useful tools.
Operanse adds a different kind of visibility: email volume compared with your site’s normal activity, alongside payments, forms, subscription renewals, background tasks and outside services.
For an agency, that view extends across multiple client sites. You can see which site needs attention and what else changed around the same time.
What this monitoring can—and cannot—tell you
Operanse sees whether an email was accepted by the mail plugin or provider. It cannot see bounces, spam folders or whether the message reached an inbox. An accepted email is not proof that a customer received it.
If Post SMTP’s main connection fails but its fallback connection sends the email, Operanse counts it as sent. It does not currently flag that main-connection failure separately.
Operanse watches and alerts you. It does not change settings, reconnect accounts, retry emails or resend messages.
It won’t slow your site down
Measured overhead is about 0.02 ms of PHP per visitor page view. The agent appends one line to a local file. It makes no database query and no call to Operanse during that page view. Pages served from cache never load it. How it’s measured
If Operanse is unreachable, your site carries on as normal. Nothing waits on it.
It never sees your customers’ email data
The agent never records email addresses, subjects, message bodies, headers or attachments. For email monitoring, it sends counts, the mailer plugin’s name and a short failure category.
It is read-only. There is no capability for Operanse to change your site. Security
Connect your site in four steps
Create an account at app.operanse.com and add your site.
In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New, search Operanse, and install Operanse Agent.
Paste the one-time pairing token into the agent’s settings page.
The agent detects Post SMTP and starts counting. There is nothing else to configure for the integration.
Checks for something that has stopped entirely work from day one. After about 48 hours of data, Operanse starts telling you what’s unusual on day three. It takes about two weeks to learn a weekly pattern.

Frequently asked questions
My Gmail authorisation keeps expiring. Will I know?
If expired or revoked authorisation causes Post SMTP to refuse sending attempts, Operanse counts those refusals and alerts you. It does not predict when authorisation will expire or reconnect the account for you.
How is this different from Post SMTP’s own notifications?
Post SMTP provides failure notifications, a log and a fallback connection. Operanse adds alerts for email volume falling below your site’s normal pattern, a view across the rest of your site’s operations, and monitoring across multiple sites.
Will it notice “Log only” or “No Action” mode?
Yes. Operanse recognises those modes as sending being switched off in the mail plugin and alerts you.
Can it confirm that an email reached the customer’s inbox?
No. It sees acceptance or refusal by the mail plugin or provider. It cannot see bounces, spam folders or inbox placement.
What happens if the fallback connection works?
The email counts as sent. The main connection’s failure is not currently flagged separately when the fallback succeeds.
Which plan do I need?
Monitor or Insight. Both include Post SMTP monitoring. Your 14-day free trial includes Insight. The free Watch plan does not include email or form monitoring.
Know when sending stops. Know where to look.
