Free WooCommerce system status report checker
What is your status report telling you? WooCommerce's system status report is a few hundred lines, and support asks for it because the answer is usually in there. Paste it here and get the lines that matter, most serious first, each with what it means and what to do.
Where to find the report
It takes a minute, and you need to be an administrator.
- In WordPress admin, open WooCommerce → Status.
- Press Get system report at the top of the page.
- Press Copy for support, then paste it in the box above.
The report lists your site address, plugins, theme, server and settings. That is why this page reads it in your browser and nowhere else.
What it checks
Each check reads one or two lines of the report. When a line is missing, the check says nothing rather than guess.
Things that stop work quietly
- Scheduled actions behind. The oldest pending action was due more than an hour before the report was made; more than a day is critical.
- Actions stuck in progress for over an hour, and failed actions, recent ones (the last seven days) ranked higher.
- WP-Cron switched off. Fine when a server cron runs
wp-cron.php, a problem when nothing does. - Remote requests failing, which payment gateways and webhooks depend on.
Past-due scheduled actions are how subscription renewals stop without an error: see what to check when WooCommerce subscription renewals are failing.
Things that break on a busy day or an update
- Memory limit under 256 MB, the figure WooCommerce’s server recommendations give; under 64 MB, WooCommerce’s own minimum, is critical.
- PHP time limit of 30 seconds or less. Both limits are what a busy day runs into first, as in a traffic spike that overwhelmed WooCommerce checkout.
- HPOS orders waiting to sync, or compatibility mode left on.
- Errors shown to visitors and WP_DEBUG on, on a production site.
- Outdated template overrides in the theme.
- Versions: WooCommerce, WordPress and extension updates the report lists, plugins not tested with your WooCommerce, and PHP past or near the end of its security support.
A report is one moment
The queue that is empty today can be three days behind next week, and nobody opens the status page until something has already gone wrong. Operanse watches the parts of this report that change.
Watch, free for one store, mails you when WP-Cron cannot start, when background work stops, when scheduled actions pile up or fail, and when subscription renewals start failing. Monitor adds Action Scheduler and WP-Cron health over time, with the direction the queue is moving and how long it will take to clear, and records every plugin, theme and version change, so you can see what changed just before something broke. Insight also reads the host: memory, CPU, disk, the database and the PHP error log’s counts.
The plugin only reads. It does not change settings, update plugins or run anything on your store.
Questions
Is the report sent anywhere?
No. The checker runs in your browser; the report is not uploaded, stored or put in the page address. Our page-view counter records only that the checker was used, never anything from the report. Close the tab and it is gone.
It says my scheduled actions are behind, but the report is old.
The checker measures against the report’s own “Generated at” time, so an old report is judged as of the day it was made. Generate a fresh one to see where things stand now.
Why does it not list every plugin update?
The report only shows updates for extensions sold on WooCommerce.com. Updates for plugins from WordPress.org and elsewhere are on Dashboard → Updates.
Is a clean result a clean bill of health?
It means none of these checks found anything in this report. It cannot see a payment gateway that declines every card, a checkout that broke for one browser, or renewals that fail after the report was made.
I look after stores for clients. Can I use this for them?
Yes; that is what it is for. Paste each client’s report and send them the list. Nothing is kept between reports.
